Every Thursday in August the turntable stops at 20:30 and someone plays live instead. No stage, no soundcheck theatre — the players set up between the shelves and we turn the lights down.
The line-up
7 August — Naïma Sow & Piers Lang Double bass and tenor sax, playing standards the way they were recorded: quietly, and without a set list.
14 August — The Marthe Trio Our neighbours from across the street. Two guitars, one Rhodes, a lot of Bill Withers.
21 August — Kaori Ide, solo piano An hour of pieces she has been working on all year, most of them unfinished. She prefers it that way.
28 August — Open decks Bring a record, get fifteen minutes. Sign up at the bar from 19:00.
Practical
Entry is free and there is no reserved seating, but we keep a handful of chairs by the window for anyone who calls ahead. The kitchen keeps serving small plates throughout, and the coffee bar closes at 19:00 sharp — after that it's wine, beer and cider only.
