Ba Hao is one of the most popular and longest-running dining venues in the Nana district (the Yaowarat adjacent area, not the Sukhumvit one), and we have been fans for over 10 years now. It is a go-to spot whenever we have visitors. Like us, they fall in love with the intimate, sexy, old Shanghai speakeasy vibe of the interiors and the overall building, a renovated shophouse. Any place bathed in red light is going to make an impression and stir the heart. The cocktails are also original and beautifully made and presented. Best of all, however, in our eyes is the food – small plates of Chinese food classics that, like the drinks, are beautifully prepared and presented. They are also delicious, and we always wonder how they can produce such consistently good food from a relatively small kitchen. Recommended plates include eggplant and miso garlic sauce, beef dumplings, scallion pancakes, soft tofu, and duck wontons, our favorite. Special mention to the staff too, they are friendly, courteous, ever-smiling, and a delight. Love the music too – who wouldn’t love sipping cocktails and eating duck wontons with Chic blasting in the background? Good times guaranteed!

This bar is a true hidden gem in Bangkok. Every time I arrive in the city, it’s the first place I go. The atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, making it perfect for relaxing with friends or enjoying a night out. The staff are always welcoming and attentive, which adds to the charm of the place. It feels like a secret spot you’re lucky to know about, and I love coming back again and again. Overall, it’s a 10/10 for me great food, great drinks, and a unique hidden vibe that makes every visit special.
