In 2015, we came across a charming ruin that captured our hearts. Those old stones inspired us to change our lives completely, leading to a three-year journey to preserve the soul of this space while crafting a sanctuary for the senses.
A Dialogue Between Past and Present
We chose to respect the original structure, focusing on materials that tell a story. The interiors are a quiet celebration of textures : eucalyptus beams, a rustic wooden ceiling, and weathered tiles. In a soft contrast to these historic elements, we introduced a modern metal mezzanine to define the airy, linear space.
Everything within these walls has been chosen with intention. Apart from the essential appliances, every piece of furniture and decoration was sourced from second-hand shops and flea markets—vintage treasures that carry their own history into our home.
Renovate in an environmentally responsible way
Our commitment to responsible tourism is woven into the very fabric of the house. To stay cool, we rely on the wisdom of traditional architecture; the thick period walls and stone floors provide natural thermal insulation without the need for air conditioning.
Outside, the garden thrives through a gentle cycle of reuse. An eco-friendly water treatment system purifies 90% of the house's wastewater to nourish the landscape, ensuring that our piece of paradise remains as sustainable as it is serene.
