I absolutely love staying at Mix...there is a casual efficiency that makes you feel instantly at ease, the staff are the friendliest and most helpful I have come across anywhere, and they are efficient, very efficient. The facilities are fantastic, the gym is so well equipped, the range of treatments in the spa is extensive, and with both an indoor pool and outdoor pool areas, both supplemented by saunas, steam rooms, plunge pools, hot tubs and places to relax and lounge...The rooms are a nice size, the bed is huge, and the views from the rooms I have stayed in are very pleasant, and I guess some can have spectacular views. The options for food is equally comprehensive, from the luxury of Timber, the healthy Joules Cafe, the limited but so tasty menu at Romeo, and the Fox food hall with its many street food options, including a BBQ at weekends in the summer. The breakfast is again tastily extensive and capable to fuel the body through a day whether you are sightseeing the historical city of Brussels, finding adventures walking or cycling in the forest, exercising in the gym or relaxing in the spa...and each of these activities are well worth doing.
I honestly don’t understand some of the negative reviews. I’m very picky, and I have to say… it was great for the price i paid. Don’t expect a traditional hotel with a reception and doorman, etc. — it’s a young, cool place. It’s essentially a “concept” destination: you have a hotel, spa (amazing), gym (amazing), and three different places to eat. The spa, gym, and restaurants are open to everyone, including non-guests. The hotel is there, but it’s not the main focus — the real highlights are the spa, gym, and dining options. The hotel simply complements the overall concept and is very convenient. There are three dining options: one is a healthy spot where you can get nutritious food and drinks; another is more of a café/bar for coffee during the day and drinks in the evening; and the third is a proper restaurant. Downstairs (not part of the hotel), there’s also a food court, which is amazing and offers food from all over the world. The city center is about 20 minutes away by car. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect — it’s a 4-star hotel, not a 5-star. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean, and ours was spacious (we had a 50 sqm room). There’s some minor wear and tear, but overall it’s absolutely fine. We also forgot a computer and a Hermès bag in the room, and they proactively emailed us to let us know — which we really appreciated. Prices are fair, and we would definitely go again.
Nice and cozy rooms, with interesting design and architectural features throughout the entire building. It's worth paying a little extra for the biggest room category, which was comfortable also for three people. In our case it was only equipped for two (towels, bathrobes, etc.), despite explicitly booking for three, but this could quickly be resolved. Staff was not particularly proactive, but was friendly when asked for help. Mix is not too far away from Brussel's city centre and therefore also reachable by public transport. The building hosts many different activities and spaces, such as a co-working space, gym and spa, and food court. So it always feels busy, but it is not too hectic or overcrowded. It's actually a nice vibe. The spa and swimming pool area is modern and spacious, but be aware that it is also being used by members of the in-house gym and can get quite busy at times. Additionally, during courses such as aqua aerobics, it will get quite loud. Unfortunately, the bar within the spa had very limited opening hours. To get a coffee or a refreshing drink you will mostly need to leave the spa and look for another option within the building. Breakfast was rich and delicious. More plant-based options would be an asset. Conveniently, for lunch and/or dinner one can visit the in-house food court, which again tends to be quite busy but offers many different and good options. All in all, a great choice for those who are looking for a more vibrant kind of retreat in a lively and inspiring setting.
